As homeschoolers we often look to adventures to get us out of the house without breaking the bank. The best adventures can be free and are likely right by you. Let’s talk about the best free adventures for homeschoolers.
Parks
When we lived in Belgium the most fantastic local mom started to categorize local parks in her Facebook group. As it turns out we had tons of parks around us that were beyond incredible and the most fun of adventures.
Parks can be so much fun and more and more they are being updated to include more features. Belgium had amazing parks that were vast and Florida has covered parks with splash pads. It’s so cool to go out and discover new parks with your kids. No matter where you are in the world you can search for awesome parks in your area.
Library Events
We have had the best experiences at library events and the best part is they do all the planning and clean up!
From ballet shows and art projects to space day and the summer reading launch, libraries really know how to put together great events. As homeschoolers we heavily rely on libraries for some of these awesome events.
City Events
Everywhere we have lived we have tried to find and attend city/regional events. We recently went to Fort Lauder-boo…a fun Halloween day for kids in a park. It was really great and the kids got to not only get candy but participate in crafts and hold an alligator.
While these events tend to circulate around a season or holiday, there are so many free things being put on by your local government. I usually find these via the Facebook event tab.
Open Houses
There are loads of museums/exhibits/local attractions that have open house days where you can attend for free. In Europe in particular they do this all the time but you can also find these free events in the States.
No matter where you live you can find adventures for homeschoolers that are free. As a homeschooler we can’t necessarily pay for every single whim that crosses our mind. So having a good list of free places for us to explore is a must.
